I have gotten so much not-so-good grief about having a 7 month engagement.
It's almost funny really.
The average mormon engagement is 3-4 months, and the main reason they are so short is because typically, mormons wait until marriage to do "the deed." You have to be morally clean in order to be able to enter one of the LDS Temples (where Ryan and I have chosen to be married). Anywho, everyone gasps with unbelief when I tell them we're not getting married until March, a whole 3 months away.
"You have to wait that long???? You guys are just torturing yourselves!"
It cracks me up. And I always give maybe a not so nice comeback when people say that to me. I say,
"It's actually been really great for us."
I say that kind of to make them feel bad for making such a judgemental comment, but also because it's true. I'm sort of caddy that way. Forgive me. It just gets under my skin.
I'm trying to let it just roll off my back because, really, it has been great. We've had time to enjoy all the little details and while we're not perfect and our engagement hasn't been easy, it really is a fun time.
And instead of focusing on all that we "can't" do, we're try to focus on all that we "can."
But you better believe when March 9th rolls around, we're totally gunna make out in public like these guys:
PS) Waiting until marriage is the best decision we've ever made.
