Want to hear something crazy? besides the fact that I'm actually blogging?
Our 1st anniversary was this past weekend. We've been married a whole year. Almost hard to believe, but at the same time I can hardly remember life before Ryan.
This is so totally cheesy, but I was listening to one of Justin Timberlake's new songs called "Mirrors" & it puts into words how I feel about Ryan without using the overused phrase "you're my other half."
It's like you're my mirror
My mirror staring back at me
I couldn't get any bigger
With anyone else beside of me
And now it's clear as this promise
That we're making two reflections into one
Cause it's like you're my mirror
I have been singing this song all week but only after about the 100th time did I finally stop and listen to the lyrics. It's so true! He is such a part of me now & has been for almost 5 years. When I look at him I see my reflection, my life....not to mention my love. Marriage is an awesome thing when you have an awesome husband.
Anywho-enough blubbering. For our anniversary we decided to go back to where it all began: Omaha, Nebraska! We tried to "reenact" our wedding weekend.
This was taken almost 5 years ago in front of the very temple where we sealed the deal. We came up for a quick trip with my parents to go visit the temple. It was a hot summer night and we sat on this bench and took our first pictures together--we had been dating for maybe 2 weeks. I wasn't so sure about Ryan until this night and he totally won me over. I think it was because I thought he looked hot in real life AND in pictures. WOW I was shallow.
4 years later... & I still think he's hot in person and in pictures.
Aaaaand there's what we look like today. Well, not today. But on a good day. That's some bad lighting in our "3 star hotel." But this was right before we went and did a session in the Winter Quarters temple. We actually went to the exact session that I was endowed in. It was really special, really peaceful. I was slightly emotional the whole session--the last time I had been in that temple, I was a bride. I hope to never forget that day. It completely changed my life.
We also had to hit up "Valentino's Italian Buffet" while we were there. It's where we had our wedding luncheon but were over an hour late to...and not because of the reason you're thinking...I wish...and this time I didn't have to worry about fitting into a wedding dress or looking good naked because honestly, it had been a year. Who cares?! So needless to say we ate ourselves silly!!
Omaha has a pretty sweet zoo & although it's big, we did that whole zoo in 3 hours. It's amazing how fast you can get through things without children.
My George of the Jungle..rawr baby...
They have this awesome aquarium that you can walk through that has sharks and rays and big fishies...pretty amazing! Also a perfect place to stop and sit and take pictures of yourself!
It was a short, but sweet trip. Literally so sweet that I had THE WORST sugar hangover the next day. I ate too many Swedish fish, cheeseburgers, peach rings, and chips. WOWZA. Bad combo, or maybe I'm just getting old.
We came back to the real world Saturday and got back to our sweet life together...which includes being with the nursery kids every Sunday. It goes something like this:
Ryan getting chased by a pack of wild babies
And me sitting in the corner with the quiet, cuddly ones.
And of course, I can't finish this post without a little shoutout to my favorite babygirl:
LUNA! We kind of adore her.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is our life, as we know it.
We love it.
